Closet to Office Project Take Two

So I have now painted the closet a dark gray paint, which I was able to buy at Home Depot as an "oops" paint so it was only a couple of dollars.  ( "oops" paint is when they don't make a right match or some error in color so they mark it way down, LOVE IT)
Also from the "oops" shelf was this really pretty silver glitter faux finish paint that was also just a few bucks and adds just the right amount of glitz and glamour for my little closet/now office!!
I am really happy with how it turned out and I am now in stage three, organizing and putting all my goodies in the closet .  This could take awhile, as I am also working on my ebook.  However, hope to show you the pics of the finished project within the next week!!
(the line down the top left of the pic is the light pull cord. Sorry about the glare but its really fabulous in person!)
Happy New Year!! What project will you be working on this fresh new year of 2013?

Closet to Office Project Take One!

Several years ago when my eldest son moved out into his first apartment, I was so excited to finally have a room for my office/studio.  It was a good sized bedroom and I quickly filled it with all sorts of unfinished projects, crafting materials, office materials, files, etc....  Unfortunately because it was upstairs, I found myself never working in it.  I ended up doing projects down on the kitchen table and then wasn't really good about bringing things back upstairs to put away.  Lazy I know, but I blame it on just having too much stuff and not enough focus.
Now that I have really settled into the direction I want to go in my business and life, I am downsizing all my stuff and really focusing on what I love and eliminating anything else.  Plus, I realized it would be much more beneficial to have my office on the first floor, and then I can do my projects wherever I am in the mood to be while working on them.  It could be the coffee table while watching a favorite show or movie, or at the kitchen table with my family all busily around me doing their thing!
The only spot was a closet in our family room that has been so many different things since we have lived here.  A toy closet, coat closet, extra stuff thrown in there closet, etc....  It was time to give it a makeover and make it my new little home office!
I am posting the before pics and then I will keep you informed of the progress.  I spent this past weekend and New Years working on it, and its still a work in progress but I am really starting to love it!!

I've Been BUSY BUSY BUSY!!!

So happy to finally have this project done!!  It ended up that this amazing piece would be perfect for my daughters new apartment in Baltimore.  So last weekend she was packed up and moved into a quaint brownstone in the Bolton Hill area of Baltimore.
I painted the dresser white and we used our modpodge to paste the parisian maps on the drawer fronts.  I was going to place clear glass vintage knobs on it, but my daughter wanted the old hardware that came with the dresser so there you have it.
A new gorgeous piece that would cost you a pretty penny anywhere!!  We kept the whole project under $75.00.

Vintage Made Fresh

I found this adorable little dresser years ago at a yard sale! I have used it in various rooms around my home as is and I am finally excited to recreate it into a fabulous piece for my living room. My husband needs a desk for his laptop and he doesn't like to go up to the office because he wants to work and spend time with our son at the same time. Soooo, this little gem is about to be his workspace in the corner !

Its such a solid piece that I paid under 40 dollars for, and have already got my moneys worth. However, I am about to turn it into a spectacular piece with style and put it to its best use! It opens to little cubbies and a mini desktop that slides out so it becomes a desk. The drawers will provide great storage for all his papers, its perfect!!!

Stay tuned for its new look and how I did it!!
